AMD joins $1 trillion club amid AI boom
US-listed Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) crossed $1 trillion in market capitalisation for the first time on Monday, becoming the latest in a series of chipmakers that have reached the milestone amid a growing AI race.
Out of the 17 companies that are above the mark currently, six reached there in the last four years on the back of this trend. The rest—from Apple’s 2018 iPhone-led debut to this June’s SpaceX IPO—got there for other reasons, ranging from success in e-commerce and oil to obesity drugs.
