Amazon, Swiggy Instamart, Bigbasket face licence suspension in Karnataka over Dhatura sale
The Karnataka government has ordered the suspension of food licences of e-commerce platforms Amazon, Swiggy Instamart and Bigbasket over the online sale and distribution of Dhatura fruits and seeds, citing serious public health and food safety concerns.
The government has also directed authorities to suspend the licences and registrations of establishments and sellers supplying Dhatura products to the three platforms. Food business operators have been ordered to remove all listings, advertisements and promotional material related to Dhatura intended for food or human consumption.
