5G to connect 100 crore subs by 2030; PLI creates 36,000 new jobs: Jyotiraditya Scindia
NEW DELHI: Fifth-generation (5G) networks will connect 100 crore subscribers by 2030 in India, as the technology becomes available nationwide, said Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday.
“When we talk about 5G today, it reaches almost 50 crore people. In India, between the government and yourselves (the industry), did that in a record time of two and a half years with ₹450,000 crores of capex,” Scindia said during the curtain raiser of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026.
The country has over 5 lakh 5G towers, he added. “By 2030, we will connect 100 crore people on 5G.”
