MeitY Secretary S Krishnan signals stricter government controls for AI, biometric devices
New Delhi: India will need to expand strategic autonomy and control over hardware connected to artificial intelligence (AI) and biometric authentication systems, electronics and information technology secretary S Krishnan said on Friday.
“When you’re such a large market and so reliant on various devices, you also need to have some degree of strategic autonomy. This is a concern not just for India. Europe and the US do it. We’ve started doing it in some sectors like telecom and for CCTV cameras.
