South Korea’s Kia cuts 2030 EV target over 20%, plans humanoid robots at US factory

South Korea’s Kia Corp said on Thursday that it aims to sell 1 million electric vehicles (EVs) ‌by 2030, ⁠lowering ⁠its earlier target by about 20% from 1.26 million announced last year, reflecting weaker EV demand and the impact ⁠of the ‌U.S. scrapping EV subsidies last year.

The automaker ⁠also trimmed its total vehicle sales goal, targeting 4.13 million vehicles by 2030, down from an earlier target of 4.19 million units.

Kia ‌also said it plans to deploy Atlas humanoid robots, developed ⁠by Boston Dynamics, at its own Georgia factory starting 2029, according to its presentation slides for investors.
