Jio’s Mathew Oommen pips Vittal, Kishore to win prestigious ‘CEO of the Year’ award
NEW DELHI: Amid a fierce contest, Mathew Oommen, group CEO at Jio Platforms Limited (JPL), has won the “CEO of the Year” award, piping Bharti Airtel’s Gopal Vittal and Vodafone Idea’s Abhijit Kishore, at the fifth-edition of the ETTelecom Awards 2026, organised in the national capital on March 20, 2026.
Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio Infocomm, meanwhile, bagged the “Telecom Network Operator of the Year” award.
Oommen is credited with driving Jio’s expansion of fifth-generation (5G)-driven services nationwide, including 5G fixed wireless access (FWA), backed by ultra-affordable tariff plans offering unlimited data.
