BSNL banks on AI, developing in-house SLMs, says CMD Robert Ravi

NEW DELHI: State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is applying artificial intelligence (AI) for various use cases, and is developing small language models or SLMs, for ensuring regulatory compliance, said its senior executive on Tuesday.

“In broad perspective, today in BSNL, we are trying to see how we can use AI in three major areas. One is the network management; secondly, customer satisfaction and experience; and thirdly, mixing both to analyse churn trends and reduce it,” Robert J Ravi, CMD, BSNL, said on the second-day of the ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026.
