TRAI disconnects 21 lakh connections till 2025 to curb spam: Scindia

Mumbai: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has disconnected approximately 21 lakh telecom connections by 2025 to curb unsolicited commercial communications, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

TRAI strengthened its Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations through amendments in February 2025 for immediate suspension and complete disconnection of violators’ connections across all telecom service providers, it added.
