PC demand may plunge 8% in 2026 amid rise in cost
New Delhi: A sharp increase in memory and storage prices is having a ripple effect across the Indian PC ecosystem, with demand expected to go down by 6-8% in 2026 with the consumer segment expected to be hit the hardest, according to industry executives and market trackers.
The average consumer and gaming enthusiast have effectively been priced out of the market, after RAM stick prices soared three-to-four times in the past three months due to a supply crunch following suppliers shifting capacities to meet booming demand for AI data centres. A typical 32GB DDR5 RAM kit is now sold at ₹29,000-30,000, compared with ₹6,000-7,000 in early 2025.
