Groundwork started for data protection board; online office software ready: IT Secretary Krishnan

New Delhi: The government has begun the groundwork for putting in place the procedure and modalities for appointing members to the new Data Protection Board, while the requisite software for a digital-first office of the body has already been developed, IT Secretary S Krishnan has said.

Asked about the potential shortening of compliance timelines for big tech under the data protection regime, Krishnan said the government is consulting industry stakeholders to assess their preparedness.
