Google’s AI team DeepMind announces first ‘automated research lab’

Google DeepMind has unveiled plans to establish its first “automated research lab” in the United Kingdom, expanding its AI-driven scientific research capabilities. The facility is set to open next year and it will leverage advanced AI and robotics systems to conduct autonomous experiments, with an initial focus on developing novel superconductor materials for medical imaging technology and new semiconductor materials.

The announcement of the lab comes as part of a broader partnership between DeepMind – Google’s artificial intelligence division – and the UK government.
