Social media vetting rule sparks panic among H-1B families in US

Hyderabad: A new US state department rule requiring all H-1B workers and their H-4 dependants to make their social media accounts public for visa vetting has triggered deep anxiety among Indian families, who form the largest segment of America’s high-skilled migrant workforce. Indians account for more than 70% of all H-1B approvals and nearly 90% of H-4 Employment Authorisation Document (EAD) holders — spouses who have built careers in the US through work permits.
