OpenAI continues to hire engineers from Apple for Jony Ive’s secretive startup

ChatGPT-maker OpenAI is said to be poaching talent from Apple’s hardware engineering team for the hardware initiative tied to its recent $6 billion acquisition of Jony Ive’s secretive AI startup, io. The talent drain has accelerated since CEO Sam Altman and design icon Jony Ive announced in May that they were collaborating on a family of hardware products expected to debut next year, as per a report by Bloomberg Mark Gurman.

Gurman claims that while Ive’s post-Apple design studio, LoveFrom, has long hired talent from the iPhone-maker, the focus has now shifted to Apple’s core hardware engineering teams.
