Tech, electronics firms back codes, but worry about costs

The new labour codes that came into effect Friday will benefit blue-collar jobs in electronics manufacturing through higher wages, wider participation of women and better safety culture, while accelerating investment, manufacturing scale and workforce development, industry bodies said.

Companies in labour-intensive sectors like electronics manufacturing, however, may see an increase in cost to comply with regulations, said experts.
