Microsoft on preventing biggest ever DDoS attack on Azure cloud network: It originated from…
Microsoft has announced that it prevented the largest-ever cloud DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) attack on its Azure cloud services, which occurred in October. In a report, the software giant noted that the Azure DDOS Protection tool automatically detected and mitigated a multi-vector attack that peaked at 15.72 Tbps (Terabits per second – the biggest ever in history) and nearly 3.64 billion packets per second (pps). This record-breaking attack targeted a single customer endpoint in Australia. The massive attack was successfully absorbed and filtered by Azure’s globally distributed DDoS Protection infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted service availability for the customer.
