CEO of America’s second largest ride-hailing app Lyft says self-driving technology is not entirely ready: ‘Reality is…’

David Risher, the CEO of America’s second largest ride-hailing app Lyft, has challenged the hype of self-driving cars. He issued a strong warning saying that the widespread use of autonomous vehicles is years away because of citing technological, regulatory and consumer hurdles. Speaking at the Web Summit in Lisbon last week, Risher offered a surprising counter-narrative, stating that the ‘reality is going to get in the way’.

According to a report by Forbes, Risher predicted that the slow rollout of self-driving cars will continue for the foreseeable future, telling Fortune he would be surprised if autonomous vehicles accounted for even 10% of Lyft’s total business by 2030.
