Nokia CEO says current AI is like 1990s with the internet: ‘Even if there’s a bubble…’

Nokia CEO Justin Hotard has drawn parallels between the current AI investment frenzy and the internet boom of the 1990s. Despite mounting concerns over a potential bubble, Hotard believes the foundational shift driven by AI is here to stay. His comments came as the Finnish tech giant reported €435 million ($505 million) in adjusted operating profit for the quarter.

“I fundamentally think we’re at the front end of an AI supercycle, much like the 1990s with the internet,” Hotard told news agency Reuters in an interview.
