Nokia snaps up HPE-owned Juniper’s RIC & SMO business

NEW DELHI: Nokia has licensed Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE)-owned Juniper’s RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) under a deal, as the Finnish telecom gear maker seeks to strengthen its positioning in AI-driven mobile networks domain.

Nokia said on October 2 that under the global agreement, it will integrate HPE’s RIC with MantaRay AI-Powered SMO (Service and Management Orchestration) and Network Automation assets. In addition, the associated development team has largely transferred to Nokia Mobile Networks, effective October 1, 2025.
