OpenAI is looking to hire an ads chief who can turn ChatGPT into a billion-dollar revenue machine

OpenAI is actively building an internal advertising team to explore bringing ads to ChatGPT, with the company’s head of applications Fidji Simo leading the recruitment efforts for a key leadership position that could monetise all its chatbot’s 700 million users and generate billions in profit.

Simo, who officially joined OpenAI last month after serving as CEO of Instacart, has been meeting with potential candidates for an ads head role, including some of her former Facebook colleagues, according to a report by The Verge. The position will oversee all monetisation efforts across OpenAI, including both advertising initiatives and existing subscription services.
