Mumbai: AI leads engineering intake, but core branches on the rise

MUMBAI: Artificial intelligence remains the poster child of engineering. The computer science and engineering (artificial intelligence & machine learning) programme saw its admission rate climb to 94.37%, up from 93.36% last year. Likewise, dedicated courses in cyber security, data science, and internet of things continued to attract students in large numbers, often crossing the 90% fill rate.

Only computer science and allied streams like AI, data science and information technology saw more than 85% seats getting filled. Apart from that, mechanical engineering and electronics and telecommunication engineering saw a sharp increase in popularity.
