Click, Trick, Arrest: Engineer Loses 15L

New Delhi: A software engineer in south-west Delhi’s Najafgarh was defrauded of over Rs 15 lakh in a digital arrest scam. Two persons, posing as police officers, falsely accused him of illegal activity.

The techie reported the case to the cyber police station in Dwarka. He said he got a call from a person unknown to him. The caller claimed that his Aadhaar card was being misused in illegal activities in Mumbai. The caller offered the option of filing an online complaint and then transferred the call to someone who, he said, was his senior officer.
