Penal action for not conforming to regulations, no link to DCA: TRAI official
NEW DELHI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI’s) ₹141-crore penalty on incumbent telecom carriers is based on non-compliance of the existing regulatory regime, and has “no relation” to the digital consent acquisition (DCA), a senior regulatory official said.
“Telcos said that since the digital consent acquisition (DCA) was not fully operational, financial disincentives would not be applicable. We have given our arguments. We have clearly stated that the penalties have no connection with the digital consent acquisition platform,” the official, on condition of anonymity, told ETTelecom.
