CMS: Telecom 2025

In May 2025, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), published the “Comprehensive Modular Survey: Telecom (CMS: Telecom), 2025” under the National Sample Survey (NSS) 80th round. Conducted by the National Statistical Office (NSO) between January and March 2025, this survey marks the first dedicated statistical effort to understand mobile and internet usage patterns in India with specific attention to ICT skills and access across socio-demographic groups. Covering 4,382 first-stage units (2,395 rural villages and 1,987 urban blocks), 34,950 households and 142,065 individuals, the survey was designed to bridge the data gap in digital connectivity previously identified by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
