Satellite Spectrum

Trai has proposed a well-considered framework for the assignment and pricing of spectrum for satellite-based commercial communication services. The recommendations focus on ensuring a level playing field between satellite and terrestrial service providers while recognizing the unique characteristics of satellite communication technology. Rather than advocating for a one-size-fits-all approach, Trai has supported an administrative spectrum assignment model for satellite services falling under specific categories outlined by the government, aligning with the provisions of the Telecommunications Act, 2023.
