On January 18, 2025, BSNL CO issued instructions to all the CGMs not to disconnect mobile numbers from the record of sale of SIMs. BSNL said, “As per the SIM sale report for the past few months, it is noticed that some circles are initiating disconnection of Mobile numbers for various reasons without intimation to Corporate office. Henceforth, instructions are hereby conveyed not to disconnect any mobile numbers without taking necessary approval from NWP CM section of Corporate office.
On detailed examination we found that in December 2024, BSNL added 1.30 lakh post-paid connections but lost 3.27 lakh pre-paid connections. So, net loss was 1.97 lakh mobile subscribers.
