Combating modern cyber threats

On December 10, 2024, Trai issued recommendations on the definitions of international and domestic traffic as part of its ongoing efforts to tackle the complexities of modern communication networks and the rising sophistication of cyber threats and fraud. According to the recommendations, ‘International traffic’ should be defined as the traffic originating in one country and terminating in another country, where one of the countries is India. Further, the international SMS was defined as the international traffic delivered using SMS.
