WhatsApp violated law

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has imposed a penalty of Rs 213 crore on Meta Platforms Inc, formerly known as Facebook, for its anti-competitive practices related to the 2021 WhatsApp Privacy Policy Update. CCI has also laid down several restrictions to ensure that Meta complies with fair competition principles.

CCI has directed Meta and WhatsApp to implement the followings:
