Bharti Airtel reports 168% surge in Q2 net profit despite exceptional loss

New Delhi: Bharti Airtel’s consolidated net profit for the fiscal second quarter surged 168% from the year earlier as tariff hikes lifted average revenue per user (ARPU) but also led to subscriber losses. India’s second-largest telco also named Shashwat Sharma as the next managing director and chief executive, effective January 1, 2026, succeeding Gopal Vittal, who will become executive vice chairman.
