Ministries divided over inclusion of IT gear in public procurement list

The department of promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT) and the IT ministry are divided over whether electronic items such as storage consumables, printer cartridges, toners and printer cables should be in ‘Appendix A’ of the public procurement list, sources told ET.

The DPIIT has suggested including these electronic items in Appendix A of the public procurement list following representations from the industry, one of the people cited earlier said.

On the other hand, the ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY) is of the view that since these products and accessories are considered “independent products”, they should be kept out of Appendix A.
