A retired Amazon vice president, Ethan Evans, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the growing disconnect between corporate executives and everyday employees, particularly when it comes to remote work. In a candid post, Evans shared insights into how executive wealth and lifestyle can create a starkly different perspective on workplace policies.

Evans, who witnessed a staggering 9,082% increase in Amazon’s stock during his tenure, began by acknowledging his own privileged situation. “I am out of touch with many common life struggles. The SVPs and CEOs above me are often more so,” he wrote, adding that discussing wealth and its impacts is often a “taboo subject” in executive circles.
