Delhi woman cheated of Rs 23 lakh; probe leads cops to cybercriminal network

The Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested a fraudster for allegedly cheating a woman of Rs 23.5 lakh after promising her lucrative returns via cryptocurrency trading.

In her police complaint, the 32-year-old woman from Delhi’s Usmanpur said that she was deceived by con men who posed as representatives of Binance Holdings, a reputable company that specialises in cryptocurrency trading. The woman said she fell victim to the scam after investing an initial sum of Rs 1,000 and getting instant returns of Rs 1,300. She said she was tempted to invest more.
