Telecommunications Act 2023

The landmark Telecommunications Bill, which was passed by Parliament recently, has received the President’s assent, and law ministry notified it on December 24, 2023 as ‘The Telecommunications Act, 2023′. The Act supersedes the existing regulatory framework for the telecommunication sector which was based on the Indian Telegraph Act, of 1885, the Wireless Telegraphy Act (1933), and the Telegraph Wires (Unlawful Possession) Act (1950).
