OTT , Trai releases consultation paper on regulatory mechanism

After an inconclusive attempt to regulate Over-The-Top (OTT) services in 2015 and 2018, Trai has once again started consultation process to formulate a regulatory mechanism for OTT services. This time, the released consultation paper focusses mainly two aspects: (a) Identification of a suitable regulatory mechanism for OTT communication services, and (b) Examination of the issues related to selective banning of OTT communication services.
