AI in Healthcare

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India’s apex body for the formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, issued a guiding document titled “The Ethical Guidelines for Application of AI in Biomedical Research and Health care”. The document is prepared by the Department of Health Research and ICMR Artificial Intelligence Cell, Delhi. Developed through extensive discussions with experts and ethicists, the guidelines include sections on ethical principles, guiding principles for stakeholders, an ethics review process, governance of AI use and informed consent.

The purpose of guidelines is to ensure ethical conduct and address emerging ethical challenges in the field of AI in biomedical research and healthcare.
