ZTE exits US Probation
On March 22, 2022, China’s ZTE Corp completed five years of probation in the United States, marking the end of a US criminal case. ZTE’s probation – imposed in a 2017 guilty plea deal for illegally shipping US technology to Iran, and extended in 2018 – ended on schedule on March 22. However, a visa fraud news in the 1st week of March 2022 had raised the possibility of additional penalties, but a US judge has now ruled against further action by the court. However, ZTE is still subject to a 2018 settlement agreement with the US Commerce Department.
