Internet Shutdown

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology, under the chairmanship of Dr Shashi Tharoor, has come out with a report on Internet shutdown. According to the report the frequent shutting down of telecom services / internet is affecting the life and liberty of people. It further added that the Suspension Rules, 2017 had been haphazardly formulated and despite the Supreme Court pin-pointing of the loopholes, the Rules have not been strengthened and many of the provisions have been left open-ended.
