{"id":976529,"date":"2025-11-25T17:47:05","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T12:17:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/telecomlive.in\/web\/?p=976529"},"modified":"2025-11-26T06:56:30","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T01:26:30","slug":"nokia-modernises-railtels-nld-metro-optical-transport-networks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/telecomlive.in\/web\/2025\/11\/25\/nokia-modernises-railtels-nld-metro-optical-transport-networks\/","title":{"rendered":"Nokia modernises RailTel\u2019s NLD, metro optical transport networks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Finnish telecom gear maker Nokia, along with its partners, has successfully upgraded RailTel\u2019s DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) national long-distance (NLD) network nationwide. <\/p>\n<p>In a joint statement on Tuesday, Nokia said it has deployed RailTel\u2019s Carrier-Grade NAT (CG-NAT) and metro optical transport network across India. <\/p>\n<p>These initiatives collectively address the growing demand for high-speed, resilient connectivity, driving operational efficiency and reducing costs.<\/p>\n<p>The companies, however, did not disclose the financial terms of the deal. <\/p>\n<p>Leveraging Nokia\u2019s 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) and advanced transponder technology, the enhanced network achieves a substantial increase in transport capacity while minimising cost per bit. <\/p>\n<p>By reutilising RailTel\u2019s existing infrastructure and previously unused channel spectrum, the deployment also introduces high-capacity Lambda transmission and express traffic lanes between cities, significantly improving overall network performance. <\/p>\n<p>Nokia\u2019s 7750 Service Router (SR), integrated with Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) and CG-NAT functionality, will allow RailTel\u2019s network to efficiently support enterprise-grade high-speed traffic alongside internal internet service provider (ISP) services.  <\/p>\n<p>This unified network architecture enhances intercity traffic resiliency while addressing RailTel\u2019s expanding bandwidth requirements. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis collaboration represents a pivotal step in modernising our BNG, CG-NAT and optical transport systems.
