{"id":966911,"date":"2025-10-08T18:08:51","date_gmt":"2025-10-08T12:38:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/telecomlive.in\/web\/?p=966911"},"modified":"2025-10-09T08:32:56","modified_gmt":"2025-10-09T03:02:56","slug":"imc-2025-vodafone-idea-says-ai-led-security-systems-flagged-over-600-mn-spam-scam-calls-messages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/telecomlive.in\/web\/2025\/10\/08\/imc-2025-vodafone-idea-says-ai-led-security-systems-flagged-over-600-mn-spam-scam-calls-messages\/","title":{"rendered":"IMC 2025: Vodafone Idea says AI-led security systems flagged over 600 mn spam, scam calls, messages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vodafone Idea (Vi) on Wednesday launched the \u201cVi Protect\u201d offering, which combines India\u2019s third-largest telecom carrier\u2019s consumer, network, and enterprise safety and security measures under one umbrella.<\/p>\n<p>The telco launched an artificial intelligence (AI)-based \u201cVoice Spam Detection\u201d system and AI-driven \u201cNetwork Defence and Incident Response\u201d system for its core network, under Vi Protect, at the ongoing India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025. <\/p>\n<p>Vi\u2019s voice spam detection detects and flags fraudulent and spam calls in real time. <\/p>\n<p>By using advanced AI models, web crawlers, and user feedback, it identifies suspicious callers before they reach the customer. When a potentially fraudulent number calls a Vi customer, the phone screen will display \u2018Suspected Spam\u2019, thereby helping customers decide whether to answer the call. <\/p>\n<p>With this, Vi joins its rivals \u2013 Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel \u2013 that also offer a similar solution to their mobile consumers sans any third-party applications. <\/p>\n<p>This new feature builds on Vi\u2019s existing robust consumer protection measures that now fall under the Vi Protect umbrella, including spam filtering of text messages; international calling display; and AI-powered threat analysis. <\/p>\n<p>Vi said it will soon launch a real-time URL protection solution, capable of scanning and blocking suspicious links to prevent phishing and malware attacks.<\/p>\n<p>So far, Vi said its security systems have successfully flagged over 600 million spam and scam calls and messages, protecting millions of customers from fraud and data theft. <\/p>\n<p>Likewise, the Cyber Defense and Incident Response system uses agentic and generative AI models to detect, analyse, and neutralise potential cyber threats in under an hour, compared to longer response times earlier. <\/p>\n<p>Vi said that the system is nearly 70% more accurate and minimises false positives. The solution follows a five-step defense mechanism. <\/p>\n<p>As per the statement, the telco will extend this capability to its enterprise customers soon, offering predictive insights by correlating global cyber events and attack timelines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVi Protect uses advanced AI and proactive measures to protect our customers and strengthen our networks.
