{"id":964663,"date":"2025-09-26T17:38:49","date_gmt":"2025-09-26T12:08:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/telecomlive.in\/web\/?p=964663"},"modified":"2025-09-27T08:49:30","modified_gmt":"2025-09-27T03:19:30","slug":"pm-modi-to-launch-bsnls-swadeshi-4g-network-saturation-project-on-sept-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/telecomlive.in\/web\/2025\/09\/26\/pm-modi-to-launch-bsnls-swadeshi-4g-network-saturation-project-on-sept-27\/","title":{"rendered":"PM Modi to launch BSNL\u2019s \u2018swadeshi\u2019 4G network, saturation project on Sept 27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch two landmark initiatives on Saturday \u2013 state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited\u2019s (BSNL) indigenous 4G services and 100% fourth-generation (4G) network saturation under the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) programme. <\/p>\n<p>This would make India the fifth country, after Finland, Sweden, South Korea, and China, to have its own indigenous telecom technology and equipment in a commercial network. <\/p>\n<p>Scindia said that PM Modi will inaugurate more than 97,500 4G mobile towers of BSNL at an event in Jharsuguda, Odisha. <\/p>\n<p>The union minister further said that over 92,600 mobile sites installed by BSNL are of \u201cswadeshi\u201d (indigenous) 4G technology, which is 5G upgradable.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is fully indigenous 4G technology stack featuring a Radio Access Network (RAN) developed by Tejas Networks, a core network by C-DoT (Centre for Development of Telematics), and integrated by TCS (Tata Consultancy Services),\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Scindia noted that the milestone is a reaffirmation of India\u2019s capability to design, develop, and deploy advanced telecom networks indigenously. \u201cThis has come with the relentless work of scientists and engineers who achieved this feat in 3 years when other countries took decades,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Department of Telecommunications (DoT) Secretary Neeraj Mittal said that it is imperative to develop indigenous capabilities to achieve self-reliance. \u201c4G technology stack developed by Indian companies will position India in a dynamically shifting industry as a product offerings-led country,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n<p>Robert J Ravi, CMD, BSNL, remarked that BSNL\u2019s \u201csilver jubilee\u201d year has allowed the telecom company to lead the country into the indigenous 4G era. <\/p>\n<p>As per the Ministry of Communications, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and BSNL have cumulatively installed about 97,500 4G towers at a cost of \u20b937,284 crore under the \u201cIX.2 Project with Swadeshi 4G Full Stack Solution\u201d, \u201c4G Saturation Scheme\u201d, and DBN schemes. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese towers cover 26,700 unconnected villages in remote, border, and left-wing extremism-affected areas and will be a strategic enabler for Digital India,\u201d Scindia said, adding that these towers will deliver connectivity services to more than 2 million new subscribers and enable them to access e-governance services, digital payments, online education, telemedicine, and citizen-centric applications.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch two landmark initiatives on Saturday \u2013 state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited\u2019s (BSNL) indigenous 4G services and 100% fourth-generation (4G) network saturation under the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) programme.
