Homegrown internet service provider (ISP) Microscan Infocommtech has awarded an optical network upgradation deal to Finnish telecom gear maker Nokia in Mumbai and Pune cities to serve the surging demand for bandwidth from enterprises, over-the-top (OTT) providers, financial institutions and hyperscalers. <\/p>\n
The deal will also support Microscan\u2019s expansion into Gujarat, the companies said in a joint statement on Wednesday. <\/p>\n
Under the deal, Nokia will deploy its Photonic Service Engine (PSE) technology, 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) using the CDC-F 2.0 architecture, capable of delivering more than 400G high-speed wave services. <\/p>\n
Nokia and Microscan, however, did not disclose the financial terms of the deal. <\/p>\n
\u201cStarting with the Maharashtra region, we plan to build a nationwide NLD network to gain a crucial edge in addressing the ever-increasing bandwidth demands of our customers,\u201d said Sandeep Donde, founder & MD, Microscan. <\/p>\n
\u201cPartnering with a global technology leader like Nokia will help us leverage their proven expertise to improve network performance while reducing both capex and opex,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n
\u201cDelivered over a cloud-optimised platform, Nokia\u2019s solution will provide Microscan with the opportunity to efficiently unlock new use cases for its hyperscalers and large enterprise customers,\u201d said Vito Di Maria, vice president (optical networks) at Nokia Asia Pacific. <\/p>\n
Earlier in April, US gear maker Ciena said it had won a deal from Microscan, which will include the deployment of the WaveLogic 5e solution, Navigator Network Control Suite, and the 6500 compact 1.2T OTN switching on-a-blade solution with WaveLogic 5 Nano (WL5n) 400G coherent pluggable transceivers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
