Taiwanese fabless company MediaTek said on Tuesday it has taped out its first chip based on the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company\u2019s (TSMC) \u201cN2P\u201d process based on the 2nm node. <\/p>\n
MediaTek, in a joint statement, said that it expects volume production from late 2026, adding that its partnership TSMC continues to yield high-performance, power-efficient chipsets for customers in flagship mobile, compute, automotive, and data center applications. <\/p>\n
TSMC\u2019s 2nm technology is the first to adopt the nanosheet transistor structure, and it is set to deliver improved performance and power efficiency of 18% and 38%, respectively, compared to the N3E process.<\/p>\n
The first chipset utilising the new TSMC N2P process is expected to be available in late 2026.<\/p>\n
