Vodafone Idea (Vi) has recently said it will start displaying the country of origin for incoming international calls to improve its mobile users\u2019 safety and prevent cyber frauds. <\/p>\n
\u201cIn another industry first, we have become the first operator to launch a feature that displays the country of origin for incoming international calls,\u201d the telco said in its Q1FY26 earnings statement, adding that the feature enhances users’ safety by empowering them to make informed choices before accepting calls. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is also a protection against cyber frauds, which are on the rise,\u201d Vi said. <\/p>\n
Lately, all telcos, including Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, have doubled down on their efforts to prevent spam and scam communications which are driven by domestic and international malicious actors. <\/p>\n
Earlier, the Ministry of Communications said that the telecom department (DoT) along with the telcos have developed a system to identify and block incoming international spoofed calls displaying Indian mobile numbers. <\/p>\n
