This milestone was announced by union minister for electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, at the \u2018IndiaAI \u2013 Make AI in India, Make AI Work for India\u2019 event held in New Delhi. The announcement also included the selection of three new startups to build indigenous foundation models &#8211; signalling a new phase in the implementation of the \u2018IndiaAI Mission\u2019. <\/p>\n<p>The mission, driven by the vision of democratizing technology, is focused on ensuring that technological access and benefits are not concentrated in the hands of a few. &#8220;We began the AI mission with a vision of 10,000 GPUs. We reached almost 19,000 in the first round and with the second empanelment adding 16,000 more, the total now stands at over 34,000 GPUs&#8221;, said Mr Vaishnaw. He affirmed that a third round will soon follow.
