{"id":819278,"date":"2024-06-05T17:10:39","date_gmt":"2024-06-05T11:40:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/telecomlive.in\/web\/?p=819278"},"modified":"2024-06-05T17:58:39","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T12:28:39","slug":"npci-central-reserve-bank-of-peru-ink-agreement-to-develop-upi-like-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/telecomlive.in\/web\/2024\/06\/05\/npci-central-reserve-bank-of-peru-ink-agreement-to-develop-upi-like-system\/","title":{"rendered":"NPCI, Central Reserve Bank of Peru ink agreement to develop UPI-like system"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), on Wednesday announced a partnership with the Central Reserve Bank of Peru to develop a UPI-like payment system in the South American country. <\/p>\n<p>NIPL will support the technology infrastructure functions of Peru\u2019s central bank as part of the agreement. <\/p>\n<p>This is NIPL\u2019s second partnership with a central bank to deploy the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) stack in the international market.<br \/>\nIn May this year, the payments body entered into an agreement with the Bank of Namibia (BoN) for developing an instant payment system like UPI in the African nation. <\/p>\n<p>The latest partnership in Peru is aimed at establishing a real-time payments platform within the country. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur partnership with the BCRP aims to strengthen Peru\u2019s financial infrastructure to foster economic growth. Once live, Peruvian citizens will gain access to an unparalleled level of convenience, security, and efficiency in financial transactions,\u201d said Ritesh Shukla, chief executive officer (CEO), NIPL. <\/p>\n<p>Similar to transactions on UPI in India, the partnership will facilitate instant payments between individuals and businesses and expand the use of digital payments to Peru\u2019s unbanked population. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe support of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has been a cornerstone of this agreement. The BCRP (Central Reserve Bank of Peru) aims to promote financial inclusion, security, and efficiency, and to introduce new use cases in digital payments.
