Broadcom-acquired VMware Inc. has rolled out new developments across its Software-Defined Edge (SDE) portfolio, comprising 5G, software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN), secure access service edge (SASE), and edge compute, to help telecom operators monetise their networks and create new monetisable services.<\/p>\n
The cloud computing and virtualisation major has also expanded its partnership with Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) to enable customers to seamlessly manage their connectivity and cloud infrastructure based on VMware Edge Compute Stack through Singtel Paragon.<\/p>\n
Enterprises will be able to tap into the Singtel 5G without having to redesign their applications with SDE\u2019s software-defined edge solutions. Further, both VMware and Singtel will jointly develop a lab to bring together 5G and edge-native application design experts, alongside commercial model specialists, to help enterprises build and test applications ahead of commercial adoption and accelerate time to market, they said in a media statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cVMware\u2019s software-defined edge has the interest of CSPs and enterprises, and we\u2019re advancing our integrated approach across our edge compute, intelligent overlay and telco cloud offerings,\u201d said Sanjay Uppal, vice president and general manager, Software-Defined Edge (SDE) Division, Broadcom at the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024).<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the overlay, we\u2019re introducing a new single-vendor SASE solution with Symantec\u2014helping enterprises connect and better secure the distributed edge. In the telco cloud, we\u2019re enabling CSPs to modernize their core and RAN (radio access network) infrastructure to deliver monetizable services,\u201d Uppal said.<\/p>\n
VMware and Symantec, part of Broadcom, have unveiled the VMware VeloCloud SASE, secured by Symantec single-vendor SASE solution. Additionally, the Software-Defined Edge division is relaunching the VeloCloud brand, the company said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The VeloCloud portfolio includes VMware VeloCloud SASE as well as the VMware VeloCloud SD-WAN and VMware VeloCloud SD-Access products.<\/p>\n
VMware said telcos and its partner ecosystem are deploying the VMware Telco Cloud and the VMware Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) framework.<\/p>\n
