The Centre has allocated Rs 15,500 crores for electronics manufacturing programs, including the semiconductor mission, and handset and IT hardware production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for FY25. On the other hand, various schemes for semiconductor projects will get Rs 6,903 crores allocation.<\/p>\n
Further, the government has proposed enhancing allocation for the handset PLI scheme to Rs 6,125 crore in 2024-25 from Rs 4,489 crore in 2023-24.<\/p>\n
Kunwar said that the proposal to provide relief in customs duty on the import of battery covers, main lenses, back covers, and mechanical items will boost the Make in India initiative and strengthen the mobile manufacturing ecosystem in the country, Kunwar said.<\/p>\n
