{"id":1018779,"date":"2026-07-03T18:04:59","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T12:34:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/telecomlive.in\/web\/?p=1018779"},"modified":"2026-07-03T18:20:20","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T12:50:20","slug":"reliance-chairman-mukesh-ambani-bharti-enterprises-sunil-mittal-others-join-itu-commission-on-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/telecomlive.in\/web\/2026\/07\/03\/reliance-chairman-mukesh-ambani-bharti-enterprises-sunil-mittal-others-join-itu-commission-on-ai\/","title":{"rendered":"Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Bharti Enterprises\u2019 Sunil Mittal &#038; others join ITU commission on AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Bharti Enterprises Founder and Chairman Sunil Mittal, along with 38 other heads of state, technology chief executives, and policymakers, have joined the International Telecommunication Union\u2019s (ITU) \u201cAI for Good Global Commission\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Salesforce Chair &#038; CEO Mark Benioff, and Rwanda\u2019s President Paul Kagame on Thursday launched the commission to \u201chelp define practical pathways to strengthen trust, expand access and unlock AI&#8217;s potential to solve real-world challenges at the speed the technology demands\u201d, the United Nations\u2019 (UN) specialised telecom agency said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>A key focus of the commission will be to bridge the digital divide in a bid to ensure the democratisation of the benefits of AI, including for 2.2 billion people who are still offline and cut off from artificial intelligence advancements. <\/p>\n<p>The new AI for Good Global Commission builds on the foundation of the multi-stakeholder ITU\/UNESCO \u201cBroadband Commission for Sustainable Development\u201d, which helped shape global priorities for connectivity, digital inclusion and economic development. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne thing is certain: technology is supposed to be a force for good, and we have a responsibility to use it accordingly,&#8221; said Kagame, who has been appointed the co-chair of the commission. &#8220;Let us work together to reduce inequality, and allow more and more of our citizens to benefit from the good AI can deliver to all of us.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe promise of AI is built not only on incredible opportunities for the growth of our economy, but on the foundation of trust that is required for our shared success,&#8221; said Benioff, who is also a commission co-chair. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No organisation can single-handedly put AI at the service of all humanity,&#8221; said Bogdan-Martin, vice-chair of the commission. &#8220;It will take collective leadership and the combined expertise of partners from across sectors to ensure AI benefits all people, everywhere.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The commission members comprise Vivek Badrinath, director-general, GSMA, Jensen Huang, founder and CEO, Nvidia, Julie Sweet, chair and CEO, Accenture, Andy Jassy, CEO and president, Amazon, Brad Smith, vice chair and president, Microsoft, James Manyika, president (research, labs, technology &#038; society), Google and Alphabet, Cristiano Amon, CEO and president, Qualcomm Inc., Margherita Della Valle, group CEO, Vodafone, and Xu Ziyang, CEO and executive director, ZTE, among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Bharti Enterprises Founder and Chairman Sunil Mittal, along with 38 other heads of state, technology chief executives, and policymakers, have joined the International Telecommunication Union\u2019s (ITU) \u201cAI for Good Global Commission\u201d.
