Fujifilm India, a subsidiary of the Japanese Fujifilm Corporation, Tuesday said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM) to explore manufacturing semiconductor materials in the country and strengthen domestic supply chain capabilities. <\/p>\n
GSEM is a specialised agency operating under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), government of Gujarat. <\/p>\n
The collaboration comes amidst the Centre\u2019s preparations to roll-out the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0 in the coming months, which will have a strong emphasis on developing strong semiconductor design capabilities, manufacturing semiconductor materials and gases, and bolstering supply chains. <\/p>\n
Through the pact, Fujifilm India said it aims to \u201cassess opportunities to establish a semiconductor materials production base in Dholera\u201d while working closely with government stakeholders, industry bodies, and private enterprises to support the development of a robust and resilient semiconductor supply chain. <\/p>\n
As demand for semiconductors continues to grow across sectors including electronics, automotive, telecom, and artificial intelligence (AI), the initiative is expected to contribute to enhancing India’s self-reliance in critical semiconductor materials and strengthening the country’s position within the global value chain. <\/p>\n
