All of this growth is driving our semiconductor market,” the executive said, adding that artificial intelligence has fueled the industry’s leap to the $1 trillion milestone.

“Originally, we thought we would cross the $1 trillion mark in 2030, but now we are going to cross it this year, because of the AI acceleration.”

The Taiwanese company produces some of the world’s most advanced chips that power AI.

The Hsinchu-headquartered semiconductor company makes AI chips for Nvidia, AMD, as well as custom AI processors for hyperscalers including Google, Amazon, Meta, and Microsoft.

Ravi Subramanian, chief product management officer at Synopsys, citing third-party estimates, said that India’s GDP may grow from $4.1 trillion in 2025 to over fivefold to $22 trillion by 2050, enabled by silicon and software.

“If we look at India, the digital economy is a core engine for national growth, productivity and competitiveness. Some of India’s most powerful exports today are digital in nature,” Subramanian said.

In 2022-23, the digital economy contributed about 11-12% of the national income, representing $400 billion. “When we look at 2030, on the journey to 2050, 20% of India’s economy will be digital,” the Synopsys executive said.

“Digital platforms and much deeper digitisation have already occurred in the last decade, and they are going to start permeating. Many traditional sectors will be much smaller than the digital sectors in India,” he concluded.

The world’s largest contract chipmaker, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), said India will play a significant role in driving the global semiconductor industry’s revenue to over $1.5 trillion. “Going forward, as we see, we believe the semiconductor industry is going to grow to over $1.5 trillion by 2030…a lot of that growth is going to come from you folks in India,” Paul Rousseau, vice president (field technical solutions division), TSMC North America, said on Thursday.
