The time to act is now, as others will, and we aimto stay ahead of disruption. Leveraging data intelligence is essential to ensure comprehen- sive data protection Sandeep Bhambure, VeeamSoftware In 2024, cloud computing and AI are fundamentally reshaping our interaction with technology. This transformation is the most signifi- cant change we will witness. Cus- tomers are increasingly adopting AI and cloud computing is a crucial enabler, particularly through multi- cloud and hybrid cloud architec- tures, allowing them to fully leverage AI's potential. Cloud computing has revolution- ized business operations by offering unparalleled scalability and flexibil- ity. It also ensures robust data man- agement and top-notch data secu- rity. In our interconnected world, where data drives innovation, the synergy between cloud and AI is essential. The optimal model for harnessing AI is a hybrid approach, where cus- tomers utilize sovereign clouds, local cloud service providers and major hyperscalers like Microsoft, AWS and Google. All these players are integral to this journey. By adopting a pay-as-you-go model, organizations are no longer hindered by the high costs of tech- nology adoption. This financial agility enables businesses to invest strategically in AI initiatives, driv- ing innovation and competitive advantage in their markets. This democratization of AI empowers not only startups but also large enterprises. Another crucial aspect is data protection. Data is the driving force behind cloud initiatives and artifi- cial intelligence. As AI evolves and we seek to leverage its power, we must recognize that malicious actors are often ahead of us. They are extensively exploring how AI technology can be used to attack our businesses and data. Therefore, it is vital for us to understand that while adopting these technologies, the responsibility for data protec- tion lies entirely with us as busi- nesses. We conducted a global study, engaging with 1,200 leaders to understand the evolving threats and challenges, and how they plan to protect their data from cyber- attacks. Alarmingly, 75%of respon- dents reported experiencing cyber- attacks or ransomware attacks in the past 12 months. The key takeaway is not just the occurrence of ransomware attacks, but the increasing frequency of cyber- attacks impacting businesses. Thus, data protection is paramount for every business today. The research also revealed that 41% of data was compromised during cyber-attacks, and only 57% of the compromised data was recovered, posing a significant risk to busi- nesses. The report highlights the need for security and data protection teams to collaborate while imple- menting new solutions and adopt- ing transformational initiatives like cloud AI. Currently, only 37% of organizations have their security and data teams working together, indicating that 63% have not yet planned a comprehensive data protection strategy. Ensuring data backup and integrating AI will customer experiences are being developed. Conversations with data, whether structured or unstructured, internal or exter- nal, are becoming the norm. OpenAI and other models are designed to make AI more acces- sible. At the core of this transfor- mation are developers, who are now more productive by up to 55% thanks to tools like Copilot. This change is redefining organi- zational efficiency. By reducing the denominator and increasing the numerator, businesses can achieve the ROI they need. However, to accom- plish this, a few key elements are necessary. First, you need AI- ready cloud infrastructure. Sec- ond, you need the right data, as without it, you won't be able to derive accurate insights andmake informed decisions. All of this must be done in a secure, viable, and responsiblemanner. Our primary focus is on respon- sible AI, which is embedded in our approach. We work closely with OpenAI to incorporate principles of fairness, accuracy, inclusive- ness, transparency, and account- ability into the tools and technolo- gies we offer. We provide over 1,600 models to our customers, including open-source options ranging from large languagemod- els to small, niche models, allow- Madhav Singhania Deputy MD & CEO J K Cement Limited Monojit Mazumdar Partner and Cloud Systems Engineering Leader, Deloitte India
